Wow. It’s been a long time since I posted. It’s funny, really, how I began this endeavor thinking how much time I would have to blog with a new baby in the house and making pots and incorporating Icky Love Pottery. That baby is now 8 months old (today, actually!) and this is only my third blog post!
We are still renovating our deck because 4-6 weeks swiftly became 6 months. I’m excited about this space not only because gives the kids more room to roam, but because I can’t wait to start stargazing! Our little country neighborhood has no streetlights and ‘shooting stars’ are a common sight. I have this image of lounging on an Adirondack chair with my hubby after the kids are asleep, wine tumbler in hand, watching the moon.
I’m also hoping to use some of the space to teach clay workshops from my home. My keiki workshop at the last Aloha Home Market was a great success. Using air-dry clay, kids pinched pots, learned how to slip and score, and painted their creations. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough material or space to accommodate more kids and I had to turn some away. Since it’s holiday time, I’m going to teach another workshop on how to made ornaments. We’ll throw slabs and roll out ornaments to make a family keepsake. I have yet to try this activity with my daughter who will be 3 yrs old right after Christmas. She’s usually my guinea pig :-)
Winter in Hawaii is here, which means lots of rain over the mountains, some crisp mornings, and windy days. The change is nice and it’s affecting the shapes of my pots. The past few months have been full of experiments. I made my first set of plates, which made me so so happy. Hope you all are staying warm, wherever you are!
