pots made in kaaawa, hawaii

Change is coming.

Lots of things have been happening in my tiny garage studio, including lots of reorganizing. Our deck has been slowly deteriorating and we’re finally getting it fixed, making the garage a temporary storage container. Even though things are crowded now, I can’t wait for the kiddos to start enjoying the outdoors (where I can see them!). One of the reasons we fell in love with this house was because of the ocean and mountain views. We’re surrounded by lots of light, ridges and peaks. During winter nights, you can hear the waves.

I’ve also being playing around with tiny pots and some underglaze. These pots will most likely be tests. It’s only been a couple weeks since working with the Laguna clay, which is much softer than the Nash White I was using when I was using the shared classroom studio at Windward Community College. It’s also been a journey transitioning from high fire glazes to low fire. I’m still figuring it out.

In other news, my littlest one’s nursery is on its way. It’s going to be hard to say goodbye to my office, but I’m currently sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee (while the baby naps!) and writing and it’s pretty good. I’d say that’s a win.
