Have you wanted to learn how to draw figures, but feel overwhelmed and are not sure where to begin? Or you might even say to yourself, I can’t even draw a stick figure! 

This fast paced and FUN figure sketching workshop with contemporary artist Ann Davis is for anyone who has been curious about drawing the human form. Sketching is the precursor to drawing. It helps us loosen up, quiet our inner critic while not get too concerned with the outcome. Sketching helps us SEE and learn to draw what we actually see, not what our brains think we see. Sketching is a way to practice being present and notice the world around us. 

Just like athletes need to warm up their muscles before engaging in their sport, artists need to warm up their imaginations before creating. In this workshop we will warm up our creative muscles by first playing with blind contour drawings. We will then paint loose colorful backgrounds to be used for our final sketches.  Lastly, we will sketch a number of figures in  30 seconds using some tricks to outsmart our pesky inner critics. We will have fun, we will make lots of so-called mistakes (my favorite because they are possibilities!), and we will end up with very surprising art by the end of the workshop.
