Sustainable Basket Making Workshop with Debra Wright, November 17th, 2:30pm
When: Sunday, November 17th, 2:30pm - 5:30/6:00pm
Cost: $85
Feel like making a fun basket? Or with a friend? Come along to discover a new level of creativity while helping to reduce landfill in our precious islands. You will learn how to create a useful basket woven from recycled plastic straps. Straps have been previously used for commercial packing for transport. Straps are waterproof, will have been washed, measured, cut and bundled for you to begin to quickly weave a simple, colorful, strong, basket that can be used as a planter basket, a wastebasket, or storage in your home.
Your basket base will measure approximately 8” square and taper slightly to 9 ½” – 10” height. You will be guided in basic weaving techniques using your hands to adjust tension and if time permits, add some short handles. This workshop will begin at 2:30pm and end sometime between 5:30 and 6:00pm, depending on how quickly you weave or wish to complete the basket.
Ages 15 + are welcome with a participating adult.
All cleaned strap materials are included.
